Equity futures retreated slightly from earlier highs following his remarks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf they don\u2019t agree, the bombing starts, and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before,\u201d the president wrote in a post on Truth Social.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oil prices tumble as geopolitical tensions ease<\/h2>\n<p>Energy markets reacted sharply to the prospect of de-escalation. <\/p>\n<p>Oil prices fell significantly as traders reduced exposure, anticipating a potential end to the conflict.<\/p>\n<p>West Texas Intermediate futures dropped 10%, trading just above $91 per barrel, while international Brent crude declined about 9% to near $100. <\/p>\n<p>The decline in oil prices followed reports that the two sides were working toward a one-page memorandum that would formally end hostilities and initiate a 30-day negotiation period. <\/p>\n<p>The agreement could include reopening the Strait of Hormuz, limiting Iran\u2019s nuclear program, and lifting US sanctions.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also said late Tuesday that he is pausing \u201cProject Freedom,\u201d the US initiative to guide ships out of the Strait of Hormuz. <\/p>\n<p>He cited \u201cthe fact that Great Progress has been made toward a Complete and Final Agreement with Representatives of Iran&#8221; as the reason behind the move.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI momentum continues to lift equities<\/h2>\n<p>Beyond geopolitics, the rally in equities has been underpinned by strong corporate earnings and sustained investor enthusiasm for artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) surged as much as 18% after issuing <a href=\"https:\/\/invezz.com\/news\/2026\/05\/06\/amd-tops-estimates-lifts-forecast-so-why-is-smart-money-walking-away\/\">an upbeat outlook for the second quarter <\/a>and reporting first-quarter results that beat expectations on both revenue and profit. <\/p>\n<p>The gains spilled over into the broader semiconductor sector, with the VanEck Semiconductor ETF rising 4% and Intel adding about 4%. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/invezz.com\/news\/2026\/05\/06\/heres-why-super-micro-computer-stock-is-pumping-today-and-what-next\/\">Super Micro also jumped 13%<\/a> following a stronger-than-expected forecast.<\/p>\n<p>Major technology stocks also contributed to gains.
