Wall Street started the Monday session with a strong bid.<\/p>\n

The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened 407 points higher at 52,089.54, a 0.79% gain .<\/p>\n

The S&P 500 opened 0.7% higher at 7,690.25, while the Nasdaq Composite opened 1.1% higher at 26,780.<\/p>\n

Those opening levels imply a roughly 40\u2011point lift for the S&P 500 from Friday\u2019s close and a near 260\u2011point boost for the Nasdaq.<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s tape: S&P and Nasdaq edge up, Dow lags<\/h2>\n

Last week ended with a mixed finish.<\/p>\n

The S&P 500 rose 12.74 points, or 0.17%, to 7,650.50.<\/p>\n

The Nasdaq Composite added 104.25 points, or 0.39%, to 26,522.55.<\/p>\n

The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 95.40 points, or 0.18%, to 51,682.64.<\/p>\n

For the week, the Dow fell about 1.7%, its worst stretch since March, while the S&P 500 was roughly flat and the Nasdaq gained around 0.7%.<\/p>\n

Yields and oil retreat, setting the tone<\/h2>\n

Bond yields pulled back from recent highs.<\/p>\n

The 10\u2011year Treasury yield dropped more than 3 basis points to 4.957% at the open.<\/p>\n

The 30\u2011year yield eased to 5.294%.<\/p>\n

Crude prices also softened, with US WTI down about 3% to $97.09 a barrel and Brent sliding to $100.50.<\/p>\n

Other commodity trackers show Brent near $101 and WTI around $98, underscoring the direction but with small cross\u2011source variation.<\/p>\n

Stock movers: Greenland names, Pulte, Novo, WBD<\/h2>\n

Several names are standing out in early trading.<\/p>\n

Greenland\u2011linked stocks surged after President Trump announced a security agreement covering the Arctic island.<\/p>\n

Greenland Energy jumped more than 144%, Greenland Mines rose nearly 70%, and Critical Metals Corp gained over 30%.<\/p>\n

PulteGroup fell more than 15% as the 30\u2011year mortgage rate topped 7% again and the 10\u2011year yield neared 5%, prompting fresh price\u2011target cuts from Wells Fargo, Truist and a \u201cSell\u201d rating from Seaport Research.<\/p>\n

Novo Nordisk slipped as much as 7% despite a raised full\u2011year outlook, after oral Wegovy sales of 3.22 billion Danish kroner missed expectations of 3.27 billion.<\/p>\n

Warner Bros. Discovery rose over 7% on reports that Paramount is in advanced talks with the California Attorney General on concessions to clear antitrust hurdles for the acquisition, with a potential $1.5 billion production investment discussed.<\/p>\n

Macro watch: Trump\u2011Xi summit, Middle East, Fed path<\/h2>\n

Investors are weighing a high\u2011profile summit this week between President Trump and President Xi, covering tariffs, critical minerals and AI, after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent met Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng.<\/p>\n

Geopolitical risk remains elevated after Iran\u2011backed Houthis attacked Saudi Arabia over the weekend and the US State Department warned Americans to reconsider travel to the Middle East.<\/p>\n

The Fed\u2019s first rate hike in three years last week, combined with yields near 5% and oil around $100, keeps the focus on whether inflation pressures are peaking or will prove stickier.<\/p>\n

The session\u2019s direction will hinge on whether oil and yields stay subdued into midday trade and how traders position ahead of the Trump\u2011Xi talks and any fresh Middle East headlines.<\/p>\n
